I suppose we have to start in the beginning, and for me that beginning was back in 1966, during the early days of the war in Vietnam, or at least the early days that began to affect my generation. So... If you haven’t seen this movie yet, what are you waiting for? And if you have seen it, and don’t know what I’m talking about, then maybe this website isn’t for you.
Maybe you don’t like musicals, or maybe you don’t like the kind of “ I was there” fiction, or maybe you don’t like either fiction or musicals. But I think I was there, and that’s where this all began. The marches, the draft, the girl with the straight blonde hair, the group apartment, the life-changing decisions about art and life and politics, and of course, always there, the Beatles.
So where are we forty years later? With another war, another set of madmen in command. We’re a lot older, but no more wise than those 18-year olds. But maybe even if the songs aren’t as good (are they?), we’ve got some good tools to do our work, and it’s time to get down to it.
